THIS CELL PHONE VIDEO HAS GONE VIRAL
If you've put off creating video, start now!
The video you see below has over 9,400 views on Facebook
at the time of me writing this. I created the original video with my iPhone simply because I wanted to show local people how cool the Texas Children's Museum
in Rio Vista, TX is.
The tour, and original video, ended up being about 13 minutes long.
The truth of the matter is there's no way most people are going to spend 5 minutes, much less 13 minutes, of their busy day on a 13 minute video. Don't get me wrong, the 13 minute video is great if you want to see and hear about all of the awesome stuff the museum has to offer, but who has time for that?
I had a decision to make. I didn't want to cut out part of the tour because I thought that people needed to see how big and awesome the place is. So, I decided to speed the video up
and add music to replace the chipmunk-like voices that comes with speeding it up.
The result? The video has gone viral.
With a running time of 2:06, it's short enough to actually keep someones attention and the constantly changing scenery helps with that too. The engagement on this video is phenomenal. We're talking shares, likes and comments. It's been posted about a week and we are still seeing steady engagement rates!
The point of this blog post is to let you know that you should not allow yourself to be "paralyzed by perfection".
You don't always have to have the best camera or professional lighting in order to take a video that people will want to watch. Just start making videos.
Get your message out. There will never be a better time than now, except for maybe yesterday. I'll say it one more time, just start making videos!
Are you guaranteed a lot of views? Of course not, but you could get them. The only guarantee is that you won't get any views if your not making the videos.
